RESEARCH
  • From 2019 to 2020, I worked on a research project to complete my M.Sc. thesis entitled "Underwater High-Speed Wireless Optical Communications”. In this project, I have contributed to the design and characterization of transmitter and receiver modules, allowing for high-speed underwater optical wireless communication. To assess the system’s overall performance, several experimental tests were conducted at the INESC TEC’s Optical and Microwave Communications Laboratory. Besides my thesis, the work done led to two publications presented in June 2020 at an international conference, CSNDSP2020.

  • In 2021, I joined an individual PhD research grant awarded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) with a work plan entitled “Constellation shaping in high-speed resilient underwater optical wireless communications”. The main research objective is to explore the use of advanced communication theory techniques to improve the performance of the communication system based on constellation shaping which allows for matching the source characteristics to the channel. Moreover, it is expected to simultaneously explore the adaptability of the modulation rate to the transmission channel changing conditions (turbulence and water turbidity), henceforth increasing the flexibility and resilience of the communication system.
