Having started as a simple project by 6 friends in the electrical engineering course who gained interest in robotic competitions, the ISEP Robotics’ Student Group (NRISEP) seeks to advertise and support the academic community in this field.
Annually, NRISEP's objetives are to organize activities such as workshops, competitions and lectures in the field of robotics. The preparation and participation of ISEP student teams in competitions at the National Robotics Festival (Festival Nacional de Robótica) is one of our main focuses, having been present in the latest editions and placing in multiple podium positions.
If you are interested in robotics and aim to compete and deepen your knowledge in this field, the ISEP Robotics’ Student Group is just right for you!
Prof. Manuel SilvaThe field of robotics is an inherently multidisciplinary area, which requires the integration of knowledge from the areas of mechanics, electrical engineering and computer science, among others. The aim of the ISEP Robotics’ Student Group is to develop students' techniques in planning and integration of these different knowledges, in a way that is intended to be relaxed and through sharing among peers. Participation in robotic competitions is seen as the possibility of showing acquired knowledge, under conditions of coopetition (cooperation + competition), always within the rules of fair play and knowledge sharing."
André MouraNRISEP gave me the opportunity to apply the concepts I've studied throughout my academic career in a fun and enriching way, while meeting people with the same interests as me and making friends."
Ricardo FerreiraHere I found motivation, I found colleagues who quickly became friends and great conditions to evolve my knowledge in robotics. With NRISEP I have the possibility to gain experience to do what I like the most. Definitely recommend."
Filipe ChenNRISEP is a unique experience that helped me to acquire a wide range of knowledge and experiences that allowed an easier and richer learning of my degree's concepts."
Lucas TuckerAn excellent group consisting of motivated colleagues dedicated to learning through robotics, enhancing knowledge in this area through its use in real-world scenarios."
In this edition of FNR, which took place online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ISEP Robotics’ Student Group was present at the FreeBots competition. With an innovative project involving a UAV and a land vehicle in autonomous navigation in an indoor and GPS-denied environment and aiming to find a target position inside an unmapped building, our team was the only one to participate in this competition, having achieved 1st place.
NewsThe National Robotics Festival is one of the biggest annual events in the field of robotics. The various competitions allow students, researchers and professionals to exhibit and demonstrate their robots. The 2021 edition of the FNR will take place from April 28th to May 2nd, 2021 in Santa Maria da Feira and will feature competitions such as Robot@Factory, Robot Dragster, Autonomous Driving and Robotic Soccer. As has been customary, the NRISEP will be present at the event and, in this sense, is available to support ISEP students interested in participating in this edition of the event.
The objective of the contest is to promote robotics and engineering education, within a framework of competition based on fair play principles. The competition is open to participants from other higher education institutions, from primary and secondary schools and to participants who apply individually. In a nutshell, this competition involves developing a robot that is capable of traversing a straight track, with an approximate length of 10 m, at the highest possible speed. More information about it can be found in the rules.
rulesThe 19th National Robotics Festival, in Gondomar, received about 150 teams that integrated junior competitions, aimed at primary and secondary schools, and senior competitions, for universities and polytechnics. The ISEP Robotics’ Student Group participated in the Robot@Factory test with two teams. The competition had three parts, on three different days, with the two ISEP teams, NRISEP_Dunker (André Moura, David Carvalho, Filipe Chen, Hélio Moreira and José Oliveira) and NRISEP_ROBOTICAR (André Sousa, Carlos Fonseca and Ricardo Ferreira) respectively , ranked second and third.
